Revlon nearly naked foundation

Most days I seem to be sporting a different skin type and I bought this foundation after I read about it on essiebutton for when I have slightly less oily skin and not many imperfections to cover up.

When my beloved true match foundation from L'Oreal ran out I didn't want to repurchase it as I thought it wasn't quite perfect but I also didn't hold out much hope to find my HG foundation either.

Nearly naked has a runny consistency which makes it an ideal foundation for those who like or only need a light/medium coverage.  It is easy to blend and I prefer to use my fingers instead of a brush but the RT buffing brush works wonders too.  The lasting power is great and the foundation gives you a dewy finish (i.e not leaving me looking like I just spent 4 hours at the gym. It doesn't oxidize on me at all (which many tend to do).

The only bad thing is that it doesn't have a pump (why..why..why Revlon?) and you can be left with way too much foundation but in my opinion the good points overcome this one little annoying thing.

No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick

Today i thought i would share my thoughts on my most used lipstick which is No7 sheer temptation in Lovely.

Lovely is a nice shade of pink which looks a lot like my own natural lip colour.  Obviously it is sheer so it gives a lovely (geddit) gloss to the lips and makes mine look 100x better. It is extremely moisturising and feels like a balm to be honest.  It isn't long lasting (lasts around 2 hours on my lips) but it doesn't matter to me but if it is a deal-breaker in your case then i wouldn't recommend this.

It is around £10 which isn't all that cheap but with a no7 voucher it will only be £5 which is a bargain.  Mine has almost run out after months of use which makes it good value in my opinion.

I'll definitely be repurchasing this now that it has run out.

What do you think?

Makeup | Rimmel Apocalips

First of all I'm sorry for being a bit quiet on the blogging lately, I am blaming exams.

Anyways I fell for the hype again and bought this raved about lip lacquer in celestial which is a natural looking pink.

The consistency is great, these are opaque and creamy and feel a lot like the collection 2000 lip creams (which I also love).  These last around 4 hours which is fantastic for a drugstore lip product and the well on the applicator means you only need to dip it in the tube once or twice.

Overall I love these.  They are comfortable, good value and last for ages.

What do you think about Rimmel Apocalips (love a brand that makes puns!)

Skincare | Lush Dark Angels Cleanser

I used to always be in Lush but nowadays I hardly ever go unless I'm in the area but I may start going regularly since i tried this new cleanser.

Dark angel is the bad-guy version of the best-selling angels on bare skin and is meant for oily skin but I think anyone (without extremely sensitive skin) can benefit from this concealer.

I never really use cleanser but since my skin had been full of oily gunk and dead skin (that just was not shifting) I decided to give this a go.

A little goes a long way with this bad boy so don't be tempted to think more is better.  I use this by rolling a teeny-tiny amount on my fingertip, adding a small bit of water to form a paste then putting it on my face and finally rinsing thoroughly with warm water.

It is quite strong smelling and I did get a fright when I saw this on my face but there us no denying that this a great scrub.  It is quite rough on the skin therefore I would not recommend this to sensitive skin types but it does a bang-up job for removing excess oils and grime from your face.

I tend to use this 2x a week to avoid aggravating my skin but you could always alter that depending on your skin (mine is horrendously oily).

The results are amazing and the oilyness of my skin has visibly improved.  Lush gets a thumbs up from me (and perhaps another visit)

** I am not in any way a skincare expert but these were my findings.  Your findings may be different so please check the ingredients to make sure it is suitable for you**

Makeup | Maybelline colour sensational lipstick

This is actually the first ever lipstick i have bought from Maybelline.

It is pretty tacky packaging and looks as much as it cost in my opinion. The coloured lid is meant to identify with the colour of the lipstick but it just doesn't look right to me.

The lipstick (148 - summer pink) is a vibrant blue toned pink with a hint of shimmer and frost in it.

On the lips it is not that vibrant but on swatches it is (maybe it is because my lips are already  pigmented) but it makes it easy to wear during the day.

It lasts around 3 hours on my lips which isn't that bad although you really have to use lip balm as it settles into the creases of your lips (not a good look)

Overall it is a complementary colour for my skin tone but i don't think i will be buying Maybelline Lipsticks in the future, i'm afraid.

The Hair | The Tangle Teezer

The tangle teezer has been featured on countless beauty blogs but it actually was my hairdresser which made me want get the tangle teezer as she effortlessly detangled my wet knotty hair.

I have the compact one as i wanted to be able to use it on the go and not get it dirty whilst in my bag.
An innovative hairbrush that is just too busy being fabulous! Cute in size and big on style, it can be popped into your bag and pulled out in a New York minute to reboot hair in seconds. Has a removable cover to protect the patented and innovative teeth from fluff and dirt."

I like to use this when my hair is dry as it feels a lot more gentle on my hair than a normal hairbrush but on my wet hair it worked not as well . I think is is because my hair is curly, thick and long (le sigh.....)   but it still worked better than most hairbrushes and unlike most hairbrushes my hair did not rip the bristles out of the brush (this actually happens).

Over time , however, i found that the bristles are getting softer therefore the brush is not as effective. I still use this on my dry hair but rarely on my hair when it is wet.

I thought it was pretty expensive at £12 but maybe i'm cheap when it comes to hairbrushes, i don't know...

Overall i would only recommend this if you didn't have thick hair as i found that the bristles on my brush wore quicker than my friends brush (she has thin hair)

The Makeup | What I have been wearing lately

Lately i have been embracing the natural look so there is no crazy eyeshadows or liners for me.

I have been keeping it simple with benefit's hello oxygen flawless wow! foundation and estee lauder's double wear concealer and setting it with Rimmel's stay matte powder. Then i always contour with sleek's contour kit.  For the eyes i just use Lancome's Hypnose drama waterproof mascara and i slick on some Elizabeth Arden lipstick in breathless on my lips with some blistex on underneath.

And that's it , not incredibly inventive but it does the job well.

What makeup have you been wearing lately?

Review | Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer

One product i have been loving lately would be the  Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer.

This offers coverage like no other concealer i have ever tried!  I mainly only use it for dark circles as i already have a great concealer for redness and another for blemishes but it honestly is fantastic for covering up all 3.

I have this in number 9 and it is the perfect colour to hide the dark circle without leaving me washed out.

The only negative thing i would say about this concealer is that it has a really strong scent so if you are sensitive to smells , i wouldn't recommend this.

I don't think it lasts 15 hours as it claims , i can see it fading around the 8-9 hour mark but it is long lasting nevertheless.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation! | Review

That's quite a mouthful!  This foundation had been on my wishlist for ages but i could never bring myself to buy it, so my mum bought it for Christmas.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! Foundation  (we are going to call it BHFOWF for short.) is packaged so nicely. It is in a transparent bottle (with a pump ! (I love those) ) with the most beautiful font to have ever existed.  It has the quirkiness of a benefit product but feels a lot more grown up.

It is a light to medium formula and is oil free - good for oily skin types but also hydrates as well - good for fry skin types (get you benefit! Catering for all skin types, are we?) .

It is very runny and took my surprise but it does cover quite well.  It is also buildable.  I personally use my fingers or the RT buffing brush.

I have the shade "i'm all the rage beige", which is a pretty good match if not just a tad too dark.  It isn't very noticeable if i blend extremely well .

It isn't oily at all.  I would say it is dewy although it does tend to slip after around 6 hours of wear so i do set it with powder.

Overall this a pretty good foundation and i would recommend it for people with oily skin who want a dewy not oily foundation.

MUA nail polish review

Nail polish is the one beauty item i have too much off so it only seemed right to get more.  MUA nail polish is only £1 so i couldn't have expected a lot and that's where you are right.

I have the shade frozen yoghurt which is a pretty purple similar to OPI's A Grape Fit! but unlike OPI i found it to just apply really badly streaking on every coat.

On the plus side drying time was amazing it honestly took 1 minute to dry completely in-between coats.

My brush was frayed as well so i was disappointed. For £1 i am complaining a lot, aren't i?
Another problem i found with the MUA nail polish is that although it is nice square packaging it doesn't close right as you'll see in the picture (not important but it annoyed me a lot).

Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stains

I have had these for a while now and I can safely say that i honestly adore these.  They are really pigmented and last for around 6 hours on my lips. It is not the cheapest at £7.99 but they have lasted for ages and i haven't had to wound it up again.  I wear Lovesick most days and i tend to only wear crush at the evening as it is so intense.

Lovesick is a vibrant hot pink which really brightens your face and crush is more berry toned and gives you the vampy vixen look which was THE trend for A/W 2012

Compared to clinques chubby sticks (i knew you were silently comparing them in your head) i think that these are an absolute steal.

Vintage nail art tutorial

Hi everyone so a couple of days ago i got some dotting tools from amazon and so i had decided to do a bit of nail art.  Granted it isn't the best but for my first ever go , i think it is quite swish.

For my background colour i used rimmel peppermint
For the base of my floers i used revlon classy
For the detail of the flowers i used rimmel cranberry zest
For the leaves i used a nail polish which i made myself using graffiti eyeshadow from urban decay. ( if you want a tutorial let me know in the comments below.)

I even made a little visual aid for this tutorial ( i have a new found respect for graphic designers everywhere)

1. Paint your nails a mint green base colour
2. Paint some pink blobs (they don't need to be perfect) using a dotting tool
3. Paint the outline red with a swirl leading into the pink
3. Paint green lines on either side of the flower for leaves

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial
