A rival for carmex? #1

It is no secret that i have a serious love addiction for carmex but recently i have been trying different lipbalms to see if they are better ones out there.

Today's lipbalm is ' Blistex medplus cherry berry ' .  To be honest i have never thought about trying any lipbalm from Blistex as i have just never found the brand appealing but this lipbalm came free with my mouthwash - it's dentyl if you are wondering (I love when they do that !) so i decided to put my carmex down to try this.

Medplus is aimed at people with dry and sore lips which i do get in summer (thanks hayfever!)  and it comes in two varieties original and cherry berry.  The original one comes in a pot and tube and the cherry berry just comes in a tube - which i actually prefer as it is quicker to apply.

The ingredients include Camphor to soothe and Beeswax to condition.  I really like it when lipbalms have something other than petroleum jelly in it's ingredients so this was already looking good.

Obviously cherry berry is cherry flavoured.  I love cherries ( my carmex is also cherry flavoured) so this was another plus sign 

I find it very easy to apply as it is soft but still firm so it won't go mushy.  It starts working immediately so my lips feel moisturized instantly and it gives a slight tingle ( i think due to the beeswax) 

After one week my lips have been soft and not at all chapped but i find to get maximum results you do need to put on a thick layer.

Mine is approx half the size of one you would buy normally so it is not really that small!

 Overall i think that this is great when my lips are in really bad condition and to be honest i think of carmex and this to be on the same par.

Real techniques stippling brush

Hello everyone, today i am going to review a brush from the insanely popular real techniques brand.  For those who don't know real techniques was created by Samantha Chapman (sam from pixiwoo) They both use the brushes very frequently in their YouTube tutorials - link!

The stippling brush has been reviewed a lot in the blogging world but i thought i'd get my two-cents in anyway.

I picked mine up at boots for £11.99 but if you don't live near a boots or not in the UK you can buy them online.

The RT brushes (mind if i call them that now? ) are ridiculously hyped but i completely understand why.  They are just so perfect!!! They are unlike any other brushes in the high-street, they are reasonably priced and great quality.  The stippling brush is made out of super soft, synthetic taklon bristles like all the other RT brushes.  My only con is after every use the brush feels cakey and dirty and needs a wash again.  I use this for liquid foundation mainly my make up forever hd foundation (if you would like a review on that let me know in the comments) and it does look bloody fantastic if i do say so myself but i am yet to try it on a cream blush so i can't say how that fare with this brush.  I find it doesn't work well with thick foundations so stick to a thin one (i find MUFE HD to be in the medium category)

Overall it is a good brush and i recommend it just don't run out to buy it right this minute.

L'oreal studio secrets primer

Hello today i'm going to review L'oreal studio secrets primer.  this primer was in my July favourites and i thought it was about time i did a little review on it.

To start on a sour note i hate the packaging it is just really hard to get product out without it going under your nails which wastes product but that being said i realise there isn't many other alternatives to packaging....... unless it was in foundation packaging with a PUMP


I have oily skin so a primer is good for days i don't want powder on and this primer is very good at 'airbrushing' your skin so it isn't just one dimension like powder can sometimes make it look.

The consistency is quite bouncy, like a less moussey version of maybelline dream mousse products.  It is quite thick which means you need a *tiny* amount for your face and it blends perfectly.  It doesn't leave a white cast on your face if you don't blend as well one day (*ahem* no7 matte primer) and it does make my foundation stay on until the end of the night which is great.

The price is at the slightly pricier end of the drugstore brands but then again l'oreal is like the higher end drugstore brand (contractions , i know) and it is almost £15.  I know by know you'll be saying '£15 for a ..... primer. You've gone mad' but it did work.  My face was left smoother, my foundation looked great and the staying power wasn't bad either but is it worth the money? Personally i won't repurchase as i am sure there are cheaper alternatives for this primer.  So are you ready for the quest of a lifetime? I am ! !  And you ready to join me on my quest for the perfect primer?
